The Honda FCX Clarity
Honda has hit the market with the world’s first production-ready hydrogen-powered car and it's a beauty.
Basically, the Honda FCX Clarity combines a supply of hydrogen with air in a way that creates electricity and the electricity powers the engine.
The exciting news is the design produces no nasty emissions. You get heat, water and a golf cart-like hum and nothing else but a nice ride.
Honda says the FXC Clarity pumps out a 270-mile range with a fuel-efficiency equivalent of about 74 miles per gallon.
Honda plans on producing the hybrid vehicle over the next three years.
Interested in buying one of these nifty babies? If so, be ready to lay down around a quarter of a million dollars... that's what it takes to make just one FCX.
Don't be rushing down to Honda dealer, because the company has decided not to pass on that cost. The FXC Clarity will be available for lease only. A three-year lease will go for only $600 a month.
Don't be rushing down to your Honda dealer if you’re not a Southern California. Even then you will have to be a jet-setter with connections. Honda has begun limited mass production of the hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle.

The Honda FCX Clarity will be the world's first commercially available hydrogen fuel cell car and the company plans to deliver only 200 of the vehicles during the next three years.
A few dozen will be made available in the US and Japan during the next 12 months, but there are no plans yet announced to offer the cars in other countries.
The vehicles are being leased to customers at a cost of $600 per month through three dealers in California.
Honda has developed technology for producing hydrogen from natural gas, to enable owners to fuel their own vehicles. The fuel cells charge batteries to drive an electric motor.
