Honda Hybrid Cars

"Honda Hybrid Cars Lead The Parade Of Gas Saving Autos..."

.......Ouch! Have high gas prices got you to thinking about Honda hybrid cars?  We've all felt the pain at the pump caused by exploding gasoline prices.

Where will it end?  Are we looking at $3, $3.50, $4 or $5 per gallon gas or higher?  The world is in such an unsettled state that no one can predict where or if it will all end.

The only weapon we can use to fight back is to buy cars that get the most miles per gallon like the Honda Civic hybrid.   Edmunds.com recently came to our rescue with a list of the best fuel mileage for 2006 car models.

We've listed the names of the top five cars followed by their miles per gallon during highway travel and then for city driving.  Honda often leads in the number of hybrid cars sold.

1.  Honda Insight - 66/60

The leading Honda hybrid car is very stingy when it comes to consuming gas.  The 2006 Honda Insight is a 2-door, 2-passenger family coupe, available in 3 trims, ranging from the 5-Spd MT to the CVT w/ AC.

The 5-Spd MT is equipped with a standard 1.0-liter, I3, 73-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 60-mpg in the city and 66-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The CVT w/ AC is equipped with a standard 1.0-liter, I3, 71-horsepower, hybrid engine. Honda has completely redesigned its second best-selling car for 2006. The Honda Civic Hybrid  gets a new engine and hybrid system that seems improved in all aspects compared to the previous one. 4.  Volkdswagen Golf TDI - 44/37

The 2006 Volkswagen Golf GLS 1.9 TDI is equipped with a standard 1.9-liter, I4, 100-horsepower, turbo, diesel engine that achieves 37-mpg in the city and 44-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.

5.  Volkswagen Jetta TDI - 41/36

An all-new line of Volkswagen Jetta models
has been fully realized for 2006 with the addition of a turbocharged GLI and a fuel-efficient TDI turbo diesel. Redesigned and re-engineered from the ground up, the launch of the all-new Jetta lineup began midway through the 2005 model year and has been expanded for 2006.  TDI models are available in 45 states featuring Volkswagen's renowned turbo diesel.

It’s plain to see that Hybrid cars are becoming the smarter choice for more Americans.

As the first gasoline-electric hybrid sold in the U.S., the Honda Insight is the original hybrid. And it's still the most fuel-efficient. At 66 mpg, the EPA named it the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its class; and the Insight holds the title as the overall fuel-efficiency leader in America.
